The island's walled capital is a bustling port. It was once a British stronghold - Nelson even lived here for a time - and its mix of Georgian and Mediterranean arcitecture reflects and interesting past.
In fact, the island is also home to some very important pre-historic sites, which make it unique amongst the Mediterannean islands.
Monte Toro, at 357 metres, is well worth the journey to the top, not just for its panoramic view but also the impressively restored baroque church and monastery. A place designed for spiritual experiences.

Cuidadella
Cuidadella is the ancient capital of Mahon and situated at the western side of the Island. Its small port extends into the heart of the old town, mainly medieval in origin. A broad avenue known as the Contramurada encompasses it, constructed where the old city walls once stood. You will take a guided walk through this charming city full of history, along the streets, through the market squares and past the Gothic cathedral and town hall with time to explore the city on your own.
